What a beautiful weekend. It finally feels like winter has ended. I spent most of my weekend outside and I didn't draw anything, so this is an old comic I did awhile back. Hope you enjoy it.

Not True

It's snowing! I can't believe it. I thought winter was over. I was so hopeful. Last Sunday I was walking around outside in just a t-shirt. The sun was so bright and warm. People were smiling. The midwinter hunch that everyone finds themselves bent into in a desperate attempt to keep their body heat was gone. I actually saw a young man's fancy lightly turn to thoughts of love. Now it's snowing.

Ridiculous.

At least it still feels good to be done with the Turkmenistan book. Though I think I will start going through it next week and making some edits.

Drawing Comics

I generally think of General Eric as being dead and done with, something buried in the past that I'm not really interested in revisiting, but I have to admit that it was pretty fun drawing this comic. Maybe he's do for a comeback. 

I'd want to change the name though. I don't think anyone gets the joke unless they're told it. Maybe I'll call him General Guts.

In The Bookstore

For the record I ended up getting Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris,  Housekeeping vs. The Dirt by Nick Hornby, Exit Wounds by Rutu Modan, and a collection of Tintin comics by Herge.

Science Realism

The Turkmenistan book is done. Done. Well sort of done. I still have to send it to my publisher and there will most likely be some editing after that, but for the most part I'm done. Which feels great. Wonderful. And I told myself that when I finished the Turkmenistan book I would just relax and not draw or work seriously on anything for awhile, but now that I'm done all I find myself doing is thinking about the next book and what it's going to be like. 

And I'm thinking the next book is going to be post-apocalyptic.

So I turned thirty two days ago. Then I finished the primary drawing on my Turkmenistan book yesterday. And it even looks like winter is finally coming to an end. It's been a pretty good week so far.

Girl Across The Way

Three unrelated things:

1.) I am all stuffed up. I started feeling like I was getting a cold on Thursday and Friday, but then yesterday I felt fine. But this morning I woke up unable to breathe out my nose.

2.) My birthday is on Tuesday. I'm turning thirty. Thirty!

3.) Eight pages left to go on the Turkmenistan book. Eight!

So here's the second installment of my comics about comics idea, which is also being posted on NBM's blog (nbmpub.com/blog/). I hope you enjoy it and I'd love to know what you think. I'm making this up as I go so any comments, suggestions or questions would be helpful.

Midnight Music

Three unrelated things:

1.) I'm not very religious at all, but I've decided to give up coffee for Lent. Mainly I'm doing this because I drink far far too much coffee. I had a headache the first few days, but now that seems to have passed. Mainly I always feel tired. That grogginess that existed until I had my first cup of the morning continues throughout the day.  I am always ready for a nap.

2.) I'm dog sitting for two rottweilers named Karla and Jasmine. Karla weighs 130 pounds and thinks she is a lap dog. 

3.) I have twenty pages to go on my book about Turkmenistan. Twenty pages! I could be done in two weeks!
