The MOCCA Report

This weekend I went down to New York for the MOCCA show and had a great time. I saw a bunch of old friends, got a lot of comics, sold some comics, and drank enough coffee to keep me up for a month. I haven't really even begun to dig through the pile of mini-comics I picked up, but some of my favorites so far have been...

Hello Operator by Aaron DeLaRosa. This had me laughing out loud yesterday. I love this guy's comics. I picked up Adventures in Hi-Fi at the last MOCCA I was at (two years ago) and it's awesome, too. You can check him out here.

The Adventures of Pooptoast #1-3 by Nathan Bulmer. The title threw me off a little, but I found that it got better and better with each issue. You can see his stuff here and here.

Hobby by Simon Gardenfors. This was at the Swedish comics table. This is the story of remembrance of a friend who has died and is moving and hilarious at the same time. I'd never heard of him before, but I feel like I should have.

Brace for Impact by Stephanie Yue. Autobio comics so much better than any autobio comics that I will ever do.

And thanks to everyone who helped me out this weekend. Aya, Braden, Cathy, Dan, and Shelli who I shared the tables with. Tara for letting me crash at her place(s). Erich and Ryan for stopping by with much needed coffee. Candida and Joey for giving me the full New York experience. And, of course, everybody who stopped by, chatted, and picked up a few of my books.

AND...

If anybody wants the detailed hour by hour experience of MOCCA, here is an hourly comic documenting the whole thing, from the moment I left my house on Friday morning to the moment I got back home Sunday night.

I properly laughed-out-loud at the "chewbacca edition" page. Well done.

I didn't get any of the comics you wrote about! (and I got a lot). I liked your "me" in the hourly comic!

It was a crowded weekend, and I didn't even get it all in. Totally missed breakfast on Sunday, which was one of the high points. Jon and Shannon will have to get their own special comic devoted to them.
